In a surprising turn before Pakistan's T20 home series against Sri Lanka, the cricket board has named Sahibzada Farhan as the new captain of the T20 team. Farhan steps into a leadership role that places him at the forefront of one of the country's most followed sports.

The decision comes alongside significant changes in the team's lineup. Notably, Salman Agha has been axed from the squad, indicating a shift in strategy and potentially new directions for the team. Conversely, Shaheen Shah Afridi's role as the ODI captain remains unchanged, maintaining his influence and leadership within the one-day format.

Additionally, Naseem Shah's return to the team is seen as a strategic boost; his experience and skill are expected to enhance the squad's performance. These moves reflect the continuous adjustments in Pakistan's cricket strategy, as outlined in the Al Jazeera report, with the aim of optimizing their competitive edge on home ground.
