In a sudden twist, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is considering keeping the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as a biennial event, according to Al Jazeera. This follows CAF's earlier announcement to extend the tournament cycle to every four years.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe revealed that discussions are ongoing about the tournament's frequency, acknowledging the tradition and excitement that a biennial AFCON brings. "The passion of the fans and the quality of the tournament are priorities," Motsepe hinted.

With this potential reversal, African football enthusiasts could continue to enjoy the continent's premier competition more frequently, maintaining the rhythm that fans have cherished for decades.
